The Strauss Festival began in 1987 and has continued as a premier, free to the public, classical music and dance performance. The festival is held each year the last full weekend in July for four days in Elk Grove Regional Park at Strauss Island. Our founder, Iris Zimbelman, wanted to bring the classics to the then small town of Elk Grove. The program includes volunteer performers ages 4-83, who to a yearly story theme, perform dances such as the high energy polka, lovely quadrilles and elegant waltzes. Audiences enjoy the show by sitting on the grass with blankets/chairs under the evening stars. The show is accompanied by the Camellia Symphony Orchestra and features a dazzling display of fireworks at the end of each evenings performance. Join us for the Strauss Festival this July and prepared to be amazed at the production!!!!!!
